Ernie Barnes ( 1938 - 2009 )

Framed. Only 1 Available | Condition: New |  Limited Edition Offset Lithograph | Limited Edition 750 | Handsigned: Ernie Barnes | Number 250

A painting with an emotional impact. The original owner is the owner of ModernMix+. Maintained in museum-quality conditions.  In 1965, following a critical art evaluation in which Barnes was deemed "the most expressive painter of the American scene since George Bellows," Werblin paid Barnes his football salary to quit football and hone his skills as an artist. Recognizing the racial barriers inherent in America's infrastructure, Werblin sponsored Barnes' first solo exhibition, placing him with Manhattan's prestigious Grand Central Art Galleries. Following that sold-out show, Barnes moved to Los Angeles and began exhibiting his art consistently. His painting "Sugar Shack" gained him national attention.

"In the Beginning". Signed lithograph.
